What You Will See and Do
A morning at the Acropolis for mythology and ancient history
Your tour begins with a thorough visit to the most renowned archaeological site of the city, the Acropolis. We will enter the Acropolis from the south slope, in order to visit the Dionysus Sanctuary, the Asklepieion, and Dionysus Theater — all located at the foot of the majestic rock.

While ascending the sacred hill of the ancient Athenians, your experienced guide, provides you with ample information on all the significant monuments surrounding the Acropolis. Whether it’s your first time or you’ve been here before, the stop to take in the perfect panoramic views never gets old, as the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the National Observatory of Athens, and the city’s scenic Filoppapos, Mars and Pnyx hills stretch before you.

Next, your guide takes you to see the eternal buildings of the Acropolis, one by one, such as the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, the Propylaea and the Nike Temple. Your guide will unravel the skein of time, offering you a journey into the mythology, the history, and the architecture which resulted in the wondrous creations you see in front of you.

At the end of your visit to the Acropolis, seize the opportunity to enjoy a birds-eye view of the entire city and take the perfect photos.

Beautiful architecture in Plaka & Anafiotika: The Neighborhood of the Gods
Continue to Mars Hill, or “Areopagus” as it is called in Greek, where your guide will delve into the history, mythology, and religious significance of this area. Here, as documented in the Bible, is the site that Paul the Apostle delivered his sermon.

Right after, you will enter the most unique part of the city: the Anafiotika and Plaka areas. Your knowledgeable local guide shares all of its tranquil, picturesque and mystic hidden corners. Stroll around the little alleys and admire the authentic cubic houses decorated in brightly painted shutters and beautifully carved wooden doors. You’ll feel as if you’ve been transported to an island with its Cycladic-style architecture!

It is on this part of the tour, where you really begin to connect the dots between yesterday and today, as your guide unveils unknown parts of history and significant details on historical buildings and beautiful old chapels. You’ll be amazed by the numerous monuments in this one neighborhood including the Ancient Agora, the Roman Forum and the Tower of the Winds. Create memories that will stay with you forever and…always have your camera ready!

Monastiraki Surrounding Area

Next, you will come to the lively area of Monastiraki square, in the heart of Athens where you will discover iconic landmarks, such as Hadrian’s library, the Tzistarakis Mosque and the Flea Market, lots of souvenir shops, and traditional tavernas all under the majestic eye of the Acropolis.

This is where your guide will introduce you to the culinary habits of the Athenians while you will sample some of the local delicacies.

Food Tasting

You will have the opportunity to taste some of the most typical and traditional Greek foods, such as savory and sweet pies, souvlaki, Greek coffee escorted by a piece of Greek traditional dessert(either Greek ‘loukoumi’, sponge cake, spoon dessert, etc.), and Greek donuts  (called “loukoumades”).

The tour will end in the traditional area of Psirri near the Monastiraki area.
